Written yesterday, in the journal, after a lovely walk with two close friends:
Uphill Quarry was at its most sublimely beautiful today, with unseasonably bright and warm weather adding lustre to, and deepening the colours of, the landscape we walked through: Bare trees shining red-gold against the marble-icing sky of an early sunset; pools, a dotting of brightest blue mystery, drawn from Logres’ ancient mythology; an egret poised for take-off, then taxiing down the ruffled runway of a minuscule lake, wings dipping in and out of falling gold, a final thrust of feathery whiteness propelling the creature skywards.
The Land’s oldest song vibrates through all human sorrow – and gives both solace and hope.
Wow, I am impressed by this landscape (and the fact that it is December and there is still so much greenery)!
Although the words are even stronger.

Lovely comment, Noah – thank you. Yes, that was an atypically mild and gorgeous day. x
